What a crown is
A crown is a cap that covers a tooth. It is used when a tooth is cracked, worn, or has a big filling. It covers the whole tooth so you can chew on it again.
The usual way takes two visits
Most crowns take two visits. At the first visit the tooth is shaped and a mould is taken. You get a temporary crown. Then you wait a few weeks while a lab makes the real one. Then you come back to have it fitted.
That is two trips. If someone has to drive you, it is two trips for them too.
How we do it here
We use CEREC. We scan your tooth. There is no mould. We make the crown here in about 15 to 20 minutes. Then we fit it. You go home with the real crown, not a temporary one.
One visit means one trip, not two.
Please note
Not every tooth can be done in one visit. Dr Suaan will tell you before anything starts.
